Louise Simmons Scaravelli Yoga
It is wonderful to be back teaching regular yoga classes in the Village Centre. I travel to teach internationally, but when I am here I will be offering weekly evening and day classes. Often we have an idea that yoga is about tying ourselves in knots, or is a strange religious practice perhaps? My practice and teaching (over 20 years) comes from a British Wheel and Yoga Therapy training and is strongly influenced by what has become known as the Scaravelli approach. Vanda Scaravelli came to yoga in her late forties in a lot of pain and was doing backbends in her 90’s! It is a physical practice in which we spend time with our body, getting to know what healthy movement feels like. Rather than pulling ourselves apart, we integrate our skeleton, paying special attention to our spine and joints - like getting the wheels on your car balanced and having an oil change perhaps! Being happier in our breathing is like having the fuel system working efficiently. So it is strengthening and relaxing and suitable for all ages and physical fitness. Many medical conditions benefit from gentle yoga practice. I welcome approaches from different groups and am happy to offer taster sessions and chat with you if you want to give it a go! I can be contacted on 690768, emailed (louiseyoga@lineone.net)

Sarah Hunt Pilates
Ideal for those just beginning to think about exercise, for those who spend too much time in repetitive movement due to their jobs (such as sitting hunched over a desk), those trying to rehabilitate after injury or for athletes looking to enhance their performance. Its slow, controlled and precise approach means that it gives long term results for either the serious athlete or those seeking release from specific problem areas within the body. What is Pilates - Pilates is a conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. Targeting the deep postural muscles, it works by building strength from the inside out, re-balancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment. By working on the deep architectural structure of the body 'core stability' is achieved. The body gains a perfect balance between strength and flexibility without adding bulk and is a great way to relieve unwanted tension and stress. Classes are held at The Findhorn Village Centre on a Monday morning, afternoon and evening and on a Thursday afternoon and evening. The classes are small and bespoke, tailored to meet the needs of those attend each class. For further information contact Sarah Hunt Pilates Instructor, 01309 690410,
